Despite managing the challenges of COVID-19 during 2020 and 2021, the leading transport and business law office in Finland, LKOS Law Office Ltd, has continued to further strengthen its commitment to sustainability, honest and ethical business practices, and giving back to communities.
LKOS Law Office has always been committed to sustainability. Our approach has been to make decisions that support nature and sustainability.
“We as a company are proud to come up with the information that we have reduced our CO2 emissions by approximately 8.000 kg/year. We understand that we must follow our clients’ ambitious targets to reduce CO2 emissions. Therefore, we have responsibility towards our clients as well as to the future generations to reduce our CO2 foot print. Furthermore, as a company we have responsibility to drive our own operations and even the industry towards minimising the environmental impact of business law services” says Managing Partner Liene Krumina.
LKOS Law Office moreover responds to the initiative of fit for 55 of EU published in July 2021. This initiative is known as The European Green Deal. The European Green Deal, presented in the communication (COM(2019)640) of 11 December 2019, sets out a detailed vision to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, safeguard biodiversity, establish a circular economy and eliminate pollution, while boosting the competitiveness of European industry and ensuring a just transition for the regions and workers affected. With the announcement of the European Green Deal, the Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pledged to put forward a comprehensive, responsible plan to increase the European Union’s emissions reduction target for 2030.
“We as a company are aware that our clients require that we reduce our CO2 emissions to support our client’s commitment to reduce their emissions. By investing, as we currently have done to a ground source as a heat source, we are certain that we meet our clients’ future expectations. Furthermore, our decision for the chosen model was based on the fact that the heat pump uses ecological R32 refrigerant. The environmental impact of the R32 is substantially lower than currently widely used R-410A” states Specialist Partner Oscari Seppälä.
